Google Chrome

New browser in the market by Google called Chrome.

1.  Google Chrome Installation
Installation process went through successfully with a few click.  The whole process including the download time took less than a minute!!  The downloaded installation file size is less than 500K!.  Chrome automatically import all your default browser Bookmarks and other settings.

2. Cool Features
  • Two in One Address Bar:  The address bar is now also a search box.  You can type in either web address or search keyword and the browser will determine if it should bring up the web site or the search result.
  • Simplicity:  The browser's toolbar is very simple and no cluttering
  • Address Bar Intellisense: When you type in a web address or a keyword, Chrome guess it and bring up all the possible options for you!
  • Domain Font/Text Highlight in the Address bar.  Only the portion of the domain name is bolded making the site address more identifiable.
  • If one of the browsing tab crashes, the whole browser doesn't need to be killed.  Only the crashed tab will be affected and not other tabs.
3. Conclusion
  • I personally don't think Chrome is yet an IE7 killer.  I don't see any features standouts that I have to switch.  Although Chrome claims to work faster, I don't really see the difference compare to IE.  Maybe because my computer is powerful enough to handle an intense IE process.  Chrome doesn't come with RSS reader but of course you can get away by using Web RSS reader out there.  I don't think there will be a learning curve to switch from IE or any other browsers to Chrome.. Chrome really makes it simple to use.  Please note that I used the beta version for this review, perhaps there are more features in the final release version.
