Forgot my Friend's Birthday

7/1 was my friend's birthday but I totally forgot!!! It was either luck or co-incident or maybe both that I showed him his last year birthday pictures on my laptop and I saw the album date!! It took the birthday boy awhile to admit that 7/1 is his birthday. The whole day was fun. We started the day by having a breakfast at the Ala Moana shopping center Mc Donald. Then went to the B&N (that when I found out it was his BD). Stayed till 11, we went to shoot basket ball and throw catch at UH gym. Lunch time we went to Nakamuri for Ramen.... damnn I dropped vinegar bottle into my spicy ramen!! After lunch, we walked around the Beach Walk and stopped by Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf for an hour. We went to swim and played basket ball at the Makiki park. After that we went to Ala Moana Magic Island to take some pictures before the Sunset. We decided to go Tanaka of Tokyo for dinner. We were once again walk around Waikiki after the dinner and again stop by Coffee Bean & Tea Leaves and Beard Papa.

Strange Morning

This morning I woke up at 3 am. because I felt somebody tried to shake my leg to wake me up but nobody was around of course! That freaked me out a little bit but I managed to go back to sleep soon. At around 4 am. my building's fire alarn went off. I evacuated with my laptop backpack. I waited downstair and after almost 2 hours finally they could stop the alarm. There was no smoke or any sign of fire so somebody must have pulled the alarm for fun. I left to work around 6 am. and got stucked on the free way because there was an accident. Not far from the accident I also saw an old Chinese man walking on the freeway wandering around. And about 4 miles from the old man I saw a man was running on the free way to get help.. his car was dead.
And Later on that day I found out that around 9 am, there was a fire in the building right across my place Kapiolani Manor. Lucky nobody died but 3 were in critical condition.

Saunas for Health

A couple days ago, my body was in pain. My shoulders and legs were stiff and tight. Adding an extra hour to my regular exercise in a gym was blamed for that. So I decided to go saunas hoping to relax my muscle. It's been a year since last time I sat in this hot room. I stopped going because my physical therapist warned me to avoid the heat otherewise my knees would get more inflamatory. But I finished the 2006 Marathon and the Great Aloha Run, so I don't have to train and use my knees so much anymore, at least till August. I felt really good after 20 minutes in the saunas and all tightness were disappeared. And I slept very well that night.

I googled the web and found several health benefits:
  • Increases blood flow to the skin which brings important nutrients to subcutaneous and surface tissue, promoting cellular activity and growth.
  • Induces perspiring to provide a comprehensive cleansing of the skin and sweat glands. Profuse sweating enhances the detoxifying capacity of the skin by opening pores and flushing impurities from the body.
  • Stimulates the immune system, resulting in increased production of disease fighting white blood cells, antibodies and interferon (an anti viral protein with cancer fighting capability).
  • Heat kills many skin dicease bacteria on your skin.
  • More on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sauna

Spending 20 minutes in saunas by yourself can be very boring. Reading a magazine there would soak the paper. Any ideas what to do for 20 minutes in a heated confined room?
